Dar Mackani (2001- )
Darioush Reza Mackani was born into a Persian-American family on August 16th, 2001. During his upbringing, he learned many instruments, including piano, organ, clarinet, oboe, and bassoon.
He was first inspired to composed when he heard the soundtracks to several BBC nature documentaries as well as improvising over old cartoons. He began composition lessons at the age of 12 with various mentors at Sacramento State University.
During this time he also played bassoon in the Sacramento Youth Symphony, an experience that greatly expanded his musical influences and understanding of orchestral writing.
Mackani usually premiers his own pieces on piano, or with the Sacramento Youth Symphony and California Youth Symphony.
